LIVE UNITED Festival
The LIVE UNITED Festival will take place between 11:00 am and 1:00 p.m. in Cadman Plaza Park in downtown Brooklyn. At the Festival, dozens of United Way's partner nonprofits will be on hand to tell you about the wide range of volunteer opportunities they offer for you to get involved. The Festival will also feature live entertainment, food, and fun activities for children and youth. The general public is welcome.
Main Stage Entertainment at the Festival will feature some of the best NYC bands around:
The Scarlet Ending - The popular band is fronted by Brooklyn-based twins Kayleigh and Kaleena Goldsworthy. Their music blends elements of cabaret-tinged rock with pop and folk and has been featured on MTV & Vh1.
Brown Rice Family - Ultimate Winner of WNYC's 2012 "Battle of the Boroughs" talent competition, BRF's sound is World Roots Music, encompassing jazz stylings, afrobeat, reggae, rock, Latin rhythms, hip-hop, and funk.
Kids Zone
What kid doesn't enjoy balloon animals, face painting, stilt walkers and coloring?
Brooklyn Nets "Snap Court"
Try out your basketball skills on the Brooklyn Nets' "snap court." WWE Superstar Mark Henry, Middleweight Contender Danny Jacobs and members of the Brooklynettes dance team will be on site to sign autographs.
Sports Zone
Children ages 6 and up are invited to get active with tag games, parachute activities, and other fun games. Organized by The Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation, a United Way partner.
Activities will include:
- Bocce Ball How close can you get to the small ball (pallino). A great time for all.
- Bean Bag Tag Game Enjoy a tag game that is fun, enjoyable, and safe for all!
- Human Knot Can your team untie this unusual knot.
- Magic Circle Test your problem solving skills this challenging teamwork exercise involving a human circle and a hula hoop.
- Parachute Walk/Jog A fun fitness activity that will get everyone moving!
- Parachute Number Exchange Move fast when your number is up
